Juan Rejon, the dynamic personality behind the Oro de Lidia range, introduces this selection. His life as a touring drummer has taken him across the breadth of Mexico, and his post-tour treks into the mountains have shaped a life as thrilling as it is unpredictable — including two remarkable escapes from kidnapping. These escapades have also led him to discover some of the most exceptional artisanal tequilas in Jalisco, sparking the launch of his own import-export business. Destilería Rivesca, S.A. de C.V., is rooted in four generations of dedicated agave cultivation by the Rivera family, who have turned their expertise from farming the finest Tequilana Weber Azul agave to distilling in 2006, in the prime tequila region of Amatitan, Jalisco, an area enriched by the mineral waters of the Tequila Volcano. With a 44% proof, their tequila is crafted through traditional methods — cooked in stone ovens, extracted by roller mill, and naturally fermented with wild yeast, then distilled twice in stainless steel with a copper coil for a pure, effortlessly enjoyable agave flavor.
